About Me

I want to be wild, with a heart that is both soft and fierce; I want to be electric with life.

Hi & Welcome!

Sonia Powers holds a BA in Child and Youth Care and is completing her MA in Child, Youth, Family, and Community Studies. She is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor in good standing with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (RTC #3930), a Registered CVAP Provider, and a certified Nature-Based Therapist, Level 1.

With over six years of professional experience as a child and youth care practitioner and youth and family outreach counsellor, Sonia offers flexible, outreach-based services including Walk-and-Talk counselling and life skills development. She supports children ages 9+, youth, and adults navigating emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Her approach is nature-based, relational, and experiential, integrating mindfulness-informed and somatic practices, gentle tracking, breathwork, and practical strategies that strengthen boundaries and shift unhelpful patterns.

Sonia has formal training in mindfulness meditation, Nonviolent Communication, suicide intervention, and crisis de-escalation, with particular experience supporting youth in care, on youth agreements, and transitioning to independence. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family and exploring local forests as a moss enthusiast. Sonia lives and works with respect and humility on the unceded territories of the Quw’utsun Peoples.
