  • Walk & Talk Counselling

Walk & Talk Counselling is a nature-based, experiential approach for children 9+, youth, and adults, offered by Sonia as a Certified Nature-Based Therapist Level 1. Walking side-by-side can reduce social pressure, support nervous system regulation, and create grounded presence.

Sessions may include breathwork, simple body awareness, reflective dialogue, and gentle nature-based activities, tailored to each person’s needs and pace.

  • Virtual Counselling

Virtual counselling offers accessible, flexible support to individuals who can’t attend in-person sessions or aren’t in the local area for outdoor work. What makes Sonia’s virtual work unique is that it remains nature-connected and body-based—integrating guided imagery, breathwork, and simple somatic practices to support nervous system regulation and emotional processing.

Sessions stay grounded, relational, and practical, supporting concerns such as anxiety, grief, stress, and disconnection—no matter where clients are located.

  • Child & Youth Outreach

Outreach is a powerful relational intervention that meets young people in their everyday life spaces—parks, schools, and community settings—where connection is lived, not prescribed. Rooted in Child and Youth Care values, this work emphasizes presence, rhythm, and “doing with” rather than doing for or to (Krueger, 2000; Phelan, 2009).

Outreach can be a strong fit for children and youth ages 9–18 who aren’t ready for office-based counselling but feel supported through consistent connection—low pressure, steady presence, and relationship over time.

  • Life Skills Development

    For Youth:

The emPowers Life Skills Program is designed to help young people ages 14 to 27 develop the skills and confidence necessary for self-sufficiency. It provides hands-on outreach support in life skill areas such as budgeting, cooking, job readiness, and educational advocacy. Whether young people need support in independent living or help finding the right resources, the program aims to guide them toward a strong and successful future.

    For Professionals:

emPowers partners with professionals to support young people’s transition plans and S.M.A.R.T goals. Working alongside youth and their teams ensures consistent support tailored to each individual's path toward adulthood.

  • Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) Counselling

Sonia is a CVAP-registered provider. If you have been affected by crime or are an immediate family member, you may be eligible to access counselling with session fees covered through CVAP. CVAP determines eligibility and the number of sessions approved, with possible extensions. Sonia offers compassionate, trauma-informed, relational care through Walk and Talk counselling, supporting grounding and nervous system steadiness while integrating mindfulness, somatic practices, and practical strategies for coping, boundaries, and emotional safety.
